Zanik the cave goblin has vanished, throwing the city of Dorgesh-Kaan into turmoil. Where has she gone? Uncover the truth behind Zanik’s disappearance and save the city of Dorgesh-Kaan in The Chosen Commander, the conclusion of the Dorgeshuun quest series.

Part 1:
Investigating the Illness

Step 1
Speak with Captain Undak
Investigate nursery
Speak with children
Question vendors
Reveal the corrupt vendor

Items needed: Lantern

Make your way to Dorgesh-Kaan and speak with Captain Undak. Undak gives you a short explanation about how the children are raised within the city. He then goes on to say that many children have been getting sick recently in the nursery, and that he suspects the H.A.M. organization is behind it. Since you've dealt with the likes of them before, he asks for help with investigating this problem. Accept his proposal to start the quest. Zybez RuneScape Help's Screenshot of a Portal

Go slightly north and head up the stairs nearby. Walk into the building where all the little goblins are roaming around. Locate a goblin named Mernik and speak with her (Picture). Mernik doesn't know much, so she tells you to speak with her assistant Torzek outside. Speak with her and tell her to calm down. Next, ask her if the children have eaten anything strange lately. Torzek will instruct you to ask the sick children what they had eaten. Question the sick children outside and find out what they had eaten. You'll need to find out which two foods caused the sickness, so pay attention to similarities between what the children say. Once you have it figured out, Undak will suggest that you should speak with the food vendors downstairs. He explains that the vendors have recently been buying exotic spices from humans, so if the two vendors are using the same spice, then they can locate the human selling it to them.

Go downstairs and head south to the marketplace. Speak with the various vendors on the east and west walls until you find the one selling the poisoned food. Ask them who they obtained their ingredients from and they will give you two names. There should be one name that's the same when asking the two vendors about it. Once you have the name, head south and speak with the suspected merchant. Upon telling Undak to arrest him, the merchant should reveal himself and call you a traitor. If you're merchant was incorrect, then you will have to pay a 5,000gp compensation. Question the merchant on why he would poison the goblins and he'll explain that the goblins are poisoning society with their Godless ways (Picture). Attack him and a portal will emerge behind the merchant. From the portal will emerge Zanik, and she will start helping you fight the merchant. After the merchant is arrested, Zanik will tell you where she's been.

Part 2:
Zanik Returns

Step 2
Navigate the statues
Obtain the crossbow/pendant
Speak with council
Find Zanik

As Zanik explains where she's been, you will be able to control her (Picture). Go west and climb on top of the goblin statue that's standing next to an ork statue (Picture). Hop along the statues until you're finally on the ourg statue; a cutscene will play out. Hop along the north statues until you arrive on a balcony. Pick up the crossbow that's nearby. Grapple across the spear of the southern statue and pick up the pendant sitting on the throne. The statue with the scrying pool will bend down for you to gaze into it. Do so and you will see the cutscene of yourself speaking with the merchant. Head west and the mob of statues will open a pathway for you to go through (Picture). Enter the portal nearby to come back into control of your character. Zybez RuneScape Help's Screenshot of a Meeting

Zanik suggests that you should speak with the council, so head north and climb the stairs (Picture). A cutscene will play out and the Council will explain that they're going to ship the H.A.M. agent off to jail. Zanik will disagree suggesting that he should face the death penalty. Since they do not practice such acts, Zanik kills him herself and runs off. Undak suggests that she probably ran to the caves at the southern end of the city.

Run south and climb the stairs on the eastern wall (on the first floor). Go south until you come to a giant set of stairs, the ones that lead you to the agility arena; climb them (Picture). Climb down the ladder and follow the tunnel south and you should see Zanik sitting at the end of it. Sit down next to her and continue to say nothing. Eventually she will explain to you why she commited the act (Picture). Ask her what she wanted and go on to say that wants a world filled with peace. Finally, Zanik will give in and go back to see the council. After a lengthy talk, the Council will come to the conclusion that she must be banished from Dorgesh-Kaan until they see fit (Picture).

After exchanging goodbyes with Zanik, Undak says that he has another task for you. He wants you to infiltrate the H.A.M. base and find out what Sigmund is planning. Accept the job and he will give you a set of H.A.M. robes to wear inside.

Part 3:
Infiltrate the H.A.M.

Step 3
Seek out Johanhus
Infiltrate the hideout
Release Grubfoot
Defeat Sigmund

Items needed: H.A.M. Robes

Go to Lumbridge and run north-west of the castle. Equip the robes and pick the lock on the trapdoor (Picture). Navigate south and go down the south-eastern most tunnel. Speak with Johanhus Ulsbrecht and ask about what the plans are for the cave goblins. He will say that he isn't the one planning an attack, but Sigmund is. Ask him about joining Sigmund's group and he will give you the location and the required password to get in. Zybez RuneScape Help's Screenshot of a Field

Teleport to Ardougne and walk to the windmill to the north. Speak with Milton the Miller and tell him the password to gain entry inside (Picture). Climb down the trapdoor, but make sure to equip your robes back on before proceeding any further. Open the door nearby and open the door on the southern wall. Squeeze through hole on the eastern wall to appear on the other side (Picture). Click on both doors nearby to unlock them. Speak with the guard nearby to learn that you must obtain a signed letter to interrogate the prisoner. Ask him for the day of the week and match it up with the noticeboard pinned to the wall (Picture). Go back to the main room and pickpocket the guy who's name was on the noticeboard. Return the pickpocketed letter to the guard to gain access into the jail room. Pick up the cell key on the floor and open the cell door.

Speak with the prisoner and he will reveal himself to you as Grubfoot. Tell him that you'll distract the guard, so that he can make a break for it. Stand north of the guard so that his back is facing the southern wall. Speak with him and Grubfoot will sneak into the next room while he's distracted (Picture). Talk to Grubfoot again and instruct him to wait at the west door while you distract the guard. Climb through the hole in the wall to break a few plates. This will distract the guard while Grubfoot sneaks into the next room. Speak with Grubfoot and instruct him to follow you. Finally, exit out the east door and escape through the wooden ramp.

A cutscene will ensue of Zanik and some goblin fighters facing off against the H.A.M. members. Sigmund will begin attacking you, so attack him back. With the help of Zanik, you will be able to beat him. After the battle, Sigmund will try escaping, but Zanik cuts off his hand that contained a ring of life(Picture). After killing Sigmund, Zanik will begin attacking you (Picture). You will have to continue killing her while selecting the positive responses that's given. Eventually Zanik will come to her senses and remove her pendant. Another goblin will pick up the pendant and a Bandos avatar will control him. He explains that the cave goblins have defied him and they they must be stopped. Zanik will then teleport you away from him.

Step 4
Save Zanik
Speak with Juna
View the obelisk
Speak with Undak

Walk to the other end of the cave and a group of rocks will fall from the cave ceiling, seperating you and Zanik in the process. Clear the rocks and go towards Zanik on the other side (Picture). Tell her to grapple the rock next to you. She'll miss a few times, so instruct her which way to aim. After she grapples up go west and exit the cave room. Speak with Juna nearby and she'll explain how Zanik has strayed from her destiny.

Head back to Dorgesh-Kaan by following the Lumbridge Dungeon tunnels north. Ask Kezgar to escort you to the mines and then enter the city. Go inside the center of the city to speak with Undak. He says that the War God came through here earlier and planted an obelisk in the middle of the city. The council is having a meeting to discuss it, so head there.

Part 4:
Securing Memories

Step 5
Obtain the artifacts
Bury time capsule
Retrieve components
Prepare for battle

Upon arriving, the council will give you the translation to the text residing on the obelisk (Picture). The letter says that the cave goblins have defied their god, so they will be destroyed if they do not comply. Zanik suggests that they should fight, and she also asks you to join in. Accept it and you'll be instructed to speak with the scribe in the council chamber.

The scribe wants to make a time capsule to preserves the artifacts in case something happens to their race in the battle. He suggests that you should speak with Tegdak to assemble them. Climb down the stairs and go south-east into the second hallway. Speak with Tegdak to obtain a box of artifacts and take it back to the scribe (Picture). He will then give you a time capsule and instructs you to give it to Mistag. Walk down the stairs again and enter the door on the most north-eastern hallway. Give the time capsule to Mistag and he'll suggest that Oldak may have something for you to do.

Go back to Dorgesh-Kaan and enter the most north-western hallway to enter Oldak's room. Oldak has a plan to combine his technology with Grubfoot's magicial abilities. This will prevent the War God from using his regenerative abilities. In order for this to work though, he needs some things from Turgall. Go back to the Dorgesh-Kaan caves run south. Climb down the stairs and ask Turgall for the machine parts (Picture). Return to the place where you fought the merchant and return the parts to Oldak. Give the crossbow to Zanik and she'll tell you to speak with Mernnik in the nursery.

Speak with Mernik and she requests you to speak with Ambassador Alvijar. She wants to see if Keldragrim will take in the children as refugees in the time of battle. Go north and speak with him. Alvijar refuses, so go back and speak with Mernik. She commends your efforts and then tells you that Zanik is waiting for you at the portal.

Part 5:
Defying the War God

Step 6
Weaken Bandos avatar
Gather crossbow fragments
Defeat Bandos avatar

Before progressing any further, it would be wise to outfit yourself in the best melee gear possible. Also, super potions, prayer potions, and high healing food are suggested as well. The fight approaching can be tough for anyone who isn't prepared. Zybez RuneScape Help's Screenshot of a Faceoff

Speak with Zanik and tell her you're ready to fight. You will then enter the portal and face off against the Bandos avatar. The avatar will focus all his attacks on Zanik, so you won't need to be cautious. After beating him Zanik will try to fire at him with the crossbow, but the avatar will smash it onto the ground. Now you must pick up the pieces of the crossbow that lay scattered. As you do this though, statues will attack you. You must defeat them before proceeding to pick up the next piece. After obtaining all the pieces, combine them to make the bow. Unfortunately though, the avatar kills Zanik. Begin fighting him and turn on the protect from magic prayer to force him into melee. Once he has no health, use the special of Zanik's crossbow to finish him off for good (Picture).

Pick up the pendant and sit down with Zanik. Say nothing and suddenly Zanik will wake up. She destroys the pendant and urges you to follow her out of the portal. Sit back, enjoy the cutscene, and the quest is complete!

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How can I return to the Bandos Throne Room?

A: Speak with Oldak and he'll allow you to buy teleport spheres that can take you there. An alternative way to enter the throne room is by using the fairy ring code B-L-Q to go to Yu'biusk. From there you head to the chest where Zanik fell in from the quest, Land of the Goblins. There you open it and go in where you will find yourself in the throne room.

The Chosen Commander Update

Taken From Runescape.com--- Guide Available Shortly

Ever since Dorgesh-Kaan made contact with the surface, the cave goblin adventurer Zanik has helped to defend the city from Sigmund's villainous plots. Now Zanik has disappeared, her fate and whereabouts unknown, and Dorgesh-Kaan is more vulnerable than ever.

Captain Undak of the Dorgeshuun guard is responsible for the city's defences, and he needs your help to investigate a possible HAM attack - but this will only be the start of your adventure. The mystery of Zanik's disappearance will be resolved, and the truth behind a goblin prophecy will be revealed, as events move inexorably towards the realisation of Zanik's destiny. Your adventures will include the discovery of a new Agility course, learning more about the history of the Dorgeshuun, and uncovering the plots of the Big High War God.

The Chosen Commander is the conclusion of a quest series that began with The Lost Tribe. I've had enormous fun working on this storyline over the last few years, and I've tried to give what I think are the best elements of the previous quests a final outing here. I hope you enjoy it.

Level 46 Agility
Level 46 Strength
Level 46 Thieving
Must have completed Land of the Goblins

To be reminded of what’s happened so far in this quest series, start the quest and then log in to the QuestHelp system – you’ll find a complete summary of all the earlier quests, from The Lost Tribe to Land of the Goblins.

To go along with the quest we're releasing a new Knowledge Base article, History of the Goblins, which is in the Miscellaneous Guides section of the Knowledge Base. We're also releasing a developer forum post looking back over the quest series, which can be found in the forums under Recent Updates. If you enjoy the goblin quests you may also want to read the newest Lores and Histories story, The Chasm of Lights.

In Other News...

To mark the end of the Dorgeshuun quest series, we’re releasing a limited-edition zip-up hoodie on the Jagex store. It’s a limited run of only 2,000, so click here to get yours now!

If you’re logged in to RuneScape and navigate away from the game screen, you will now have to click on a confirmation box to confirm that you want to navigate away from the page. This is to make sure that you don’t accidentally lose your game window.

We've made a couple of changes to the party room due to concerns about abuse by real-world traders. Firstly, drop parties are now available only on two worlds (131 and 152). Secondly, players must now enter their bank PIN (if they have one) before putting items into the drop chest. We're sorry we have to do this, but we can't let real-world traders ruin the party.

We've added a wave-counter interface that will pop up at the start of each round in the TzHaar fight caves. This means you should now find it much easier to track which wave you're on.

Male ogres have been graphically reworked and improved to bring them in line with the recently-updated female ogres. They look tougher and stronger than ever, but don't worry; they're still not the smartest creatures around!

Players will no longer increase their drop-value potential on PvP worlds if they repeatedly cast the basic strike spells.

We've reduced the likelihood of your getting Random Events if you're burning incense in your house, or if you're in building mode. We've also reduced the likelihood that you’ll get Random Events in the Chaos Tunnels and on the Dorgesh-Kaan agility course.

Email registration for new accounts is now optional, although we would still advise you to enter your email address when registering, so that we can help you if you need to recover your password

Raising the Range

This is a Range Training Guide for Runescape. It is directed for the more experienced player and the wealther player.Without further ado here it is, enjoy :

Alright Guys,

Heres the deal everyone. It's becoming increasingly apparent that range is a more and more powerful and efficient way to kill, PK, and train. So because of this, as I have done in the past, I'm making a guide to help everyone "Raise the Range"! The following is a combination of simple economics, math, and a sort of "Goal Making" that is important in whatever you do on this game... Let's get started! It's gonna be a long post, so stick with it and it'll benefit you greatly!

For Starters

Lets be honest, theres a MILLION different ways to train range, from iron knives to red chinchompas, theres a bunch of combinations that you can utilize to train this cool stat! Here they are:

The Ways

  1. The Right Way- This is the best way that accomplishes everything you're aiming for. This can be the fast way, or the cheap way, but it's up to you.
  2. The Fast Way- Money is not an object, you just want the damn levels NOW.
  3. The Cheap Way- You're a gyp. You'd rather spend 100 times less cash and take 1000 times longer.
  4. The Easy Way- AFKing somewhere and just waiting around for the levels to come to you.

Establishing Goals

Basically you need to figure out what your primary goal is. If you want to train range ASAP, drop a buttload of cash and do it. Read no further. But for most of us that aren't made of Phats and 'Old' money, theres two "Slower" ways that are either Long, Boring, and reliant on drops... or the cheap slow ways using crappy gear. Right? Wrong. I introduce to you the "Best Way".

The Best Way

Ideally we all want something that is cheap and affordable, as well as fast, and most times they don't come at the same time. This is where you utilize a slow money-making economical way, combined with the fast ways to train at an accelerate rate while spending very little in the way of money. This applies to all skills as well!

The Best Way To Range

Alright lets start with a simple concept... Everyone loves to make money! What's possibly the best way to make money while ranging? Metal Dragons of course! Here are the common drop tables for Iron and Steel Dragons!:

Steels

Draconic Visage: 1/10,000
Dragon Legs/Skirt: 1/250

Irons

Draconic Visage: 1/10,000
Dragon Legs/Skirt: 1/500

What That Means

Basically, if you want a visage, kill the Irons. But for our purposes, both a visage AND d-legs will help us along our way.. SO. We want a combination of both. Lets see how we're gonna do it!

The Gear

Range Training guide Gear Runescape

There ya have it, that's what I'm using, but most of you won't have Armadyl. Heres the goals in how you gear yourself. (The bolts are Addy Diamond (e).):

  • Maximize your Range Attack Bonus
  • DO NOT USE A DFS- It is -5 Range Attack
  • DO NOT USE A FURY- You dont need one, they're both +10 to range, and the glory holds a teleport.

WTF you crazy bastard! Diamond Addy Bolts! Those are Expensive! How will I ever afford it?????
The answer is simple.

The Effectiveness of this style relies heavily on your personal patience, as well as a bit of luck. Basically each trip you take to the dragons will net you a considerable amount of experience, and may appear costly, however EXCLUDING ALL RARE DROPS, the trip will pay for itself. Here's a sample trip I did, including a set of legs and a skirt. Keep in mind I rotate between a steel and an iron every other kill, this keeps up your effective killing time, while at the same time upping your chances for a rare drop by a small margin. Here Goes!

That's the loot after the trip, without selling the rare drops, and I ended up with a total of 1298k Cash, and 750 bolts. That means I broke even and had some spending money! The beauty of this style, is that I actually gained about 150k-200k experience in the time I was down there. Time for the good stuff...

After All That...

You'll be able to buy roughly 1700 chinchompas with all that extra stuff! This means that every 2 dragon drops you get 3400 Chins!. I average about 222k an hour there, heres my invent:

Runescape Chinning Guide

*Note: I forgot to include an Anti-poison.

Compare And Contrast

Heres the Math that even PROVES it to be a better style, using another common method of obtaining cash, with an ideal "Trip":

The Other Way

Runecraft for 3 Hours = 1.5m (Ish) = 1700 Chins --- 0 Range Exp

- After 6 hours you will have enough for a chinchompa trip, which will take 2 hours, averaging about 190k-200k an hour.

Total Process = 3m Cash = 3400 Chins --- 400k Range exp --- 8 Hours = 50k an hour overall

The Runecape Guides Way!

Dragons for 3 hours with 1 DLegs drop = 1.5m cash = 1700 Chins --- 150k Range exp

-After 6 hours with 2 dragon drops (Again ideal) You'll have enough for a chin trip, averaging again 190k-200k an hour.

Total Process = 3m Cash = 3400 Chins = 700k range exp --- 87.5k an hour

Another Alternative place To Chin is At the lvl 104 Mummies in The Chaos Tunnels outside of edge. Here you make about the same experience and you get many rune/ Ancient staff drops.
